Camp Kitchen

The Explorers Caravan Park is a purpose built Caravan and Holiday Park with all the ‘mod-cons' of home set in the middle of Australia's Outback! The Park is only 100 metres from the heart of Thargomindah Township, and is situated 50 metres from the banks of the Bulloo River.

The Explorers Caravan Holiday Park offers accommodation for either Caravanners or Campers, along with modern en-suite Cabins and Bunkhouse style accommodation with wheelchair access. Powered sites are set amongst rows of native shrubs and trees, whilst unpowered sites are in a typical Outback setting, with fixed fire places. The Park offers a well equipped Camp Kitchen, Gas and Electric BBQ's, a modern Amenities Block, and numerous quiet Van, Tent, and Camp sites. The Park is also "Environmentally Friendly" and "Pet Friendly".  Please note that "Pet Friendly" applies to caravan and camp sites only.

Cabins

The Explorers Caravan Park is the perfect base camp, if you want to explore the surrounding regions of the Bulloo Shire and beyond. You can visit Cameron Corner, the Dig Tree or Innamincka, or take a trip down the Dowling Track to Hungerford, and the Currawinya National Park. For the slightly less adventurous, sealed roads lead to Lake Bindegolly, and Eulo to the east, or you can travel west to Noccundra, and then venture north to Eromanga, and Quilpie, and return south to Thargomindah via Toompine, and Yowah.

If you want to stay closer to your camp site, you can fish in the Bulloo River or net big blue yabbies for dinner – the River is directly behind the Caravan Park. Take a leisurely walk or ride along the path to the Weir, then to the Cobb & Co Crossing, the path leads onto the Old Hospital, then onto the Hydro Power Plant Display and watch the holographic ghost tell you what it was like back in the day,  follow the path back into town and past the Old Jail and Leahy House in town. (All attractions are now automated for use with a swipe car which you can obtain from the Thargomindah Visitor Centre for $12.50 -  with holographic displays at the Old Hospital, Hydro Power Plant and the Old Jail).
