Capture the Magic of the Bulloo Shire!

Think you’ve got the perfect shot? Here’s your chance to see your photo on the front cover of the Explore Bulloo Visitor Guide! Runner-ups will also feature inside the guide.

1. ✨Get Inspired ✨

Bulloo Shire is full of amazing photo opportunities:

  • Sunsets & Open Skies – sweeping horizons over Thargomindah
  • Wildlife & Flora – capture our unique animals and plants
  • Night Skies – starscapes and the Milky Way in all their glory
  • Aerial Views – rivers, lakes, and landscapes from above

Whether it’s a quiet moment in nature, a dramatic landscape, or a starry night, we want to see what makes Bulloo Shire unique!

2. Competition Details

  • Closing Date: Wednesday, 12th February 2026
  • Maximum Entries: 5 images per person
  • Eligibility: Photos must be taken within the Bulloo Shire
  • Categories:
    • Nature Photography 
    • Aerial Photography 
    • Astrophotography 

3. How to Enter

  1. Select your best images (up to 5).
  2. Email them to: tourism@bulloo.qld.gov.au
  3. Use the subject line: “Explore Bulloo Cover Photo Entry”

Include the following with each photo:

  • Name of Entrant: Full name
  • Image Name/Title (if applicable)
  • Image Description: Brief story, location, or significance
  • Subject Permissions: Written confirmation for anyone featured (or parent/guardian for under 18s)

Photo Tips:

  • High-resolution images preferred
  • Be creative! Show what makes the Bulloo Shire special
  • Ensure photos meet the competition’s quality & format requirements

4. Judging & Prizes 

  • Winner: Your photo on the front cover of the Explore Bulloo Visitor Guide
  • Runner-ups: Featured inside the guide
  • Judging based on composition, creativity, technical quality, and representation of Bulloo Shire
